Customers can rely on continued transformer oil services and deliveries. Our priority is always stability, partnership, and fair treatment for both customers and employees.
Stanlow, UK, August 28 2025. Electrical Oil Services (EOS) was surprised by Unite’s recent claims about the current industrial action and would like to set the record straight.
Industrial action
Only eight union members have chosen to strike, while the majority of EOS staff at the Stanlow production site have already accepted revised terms following open discussions about our long-term strategy. The company’s most recent offer to Unite was rejected without meaningful engagement. It is important to note that EOS has increased salaries by more than 20% over the past three years, underlining its commitment to fairness.
Impact on customers
EOS customers, including National Grid and Scottish Power, are not at risk of running out of transformer oil. Like all major utilities, they have multiple sourcing options and can procure virgin transformer oil from many suppliers. While the supply chain for recycled transformer oil is affected, EOS customers continue to be served reliably. All other operations across the company’s sites remain fully functional.
Industry context
Like many sectors, the petrochemical industry is facing significant challenges. EOS’s parent group, Haltermann Carless, has already had to make difficult adjustments in response. In this environment, maintaining customer confidence and service reliability is paramount.
EOS position
EOS customers can rely on continued services. Suggestions to the contrary are misleading. The company remains open to constructive dialogue with Unite, but its priority will always be stability, partnership, and fair treatment for both customers and employees.
